Biography
Soul Inscribed flows seamlessly between highly crafted songs and improvisation grounded in the traditions of hip hop, soul, dub, and jazz. The group’s two founders, Baba Israel and Yako 440, are also Master-level arts educators who have led workshops nationally and abroad. The group’s innovative approach to education includes an in-depth discussion and demonstration of American music genres that have influenced hip hop, as well as the elements of hip hop to engage young people interested in learning more about this uniquely American musical form and expression.
