Biography

Tumbling Bones is comprised of four young men inspired by old music. They play a mix of original compositions and traditional material that draws on bluegrass, pre-war folk, and a bit of the contemporary rock ‘n’ roll on which they were reared. They make their music with nothing but acoustic instruments, tap shoes, and – most of all – their voices.

Pete Winne (guitar, foot percussion, vocals) and Jake Hoffman (banjo, upright bass, vocals) formed Tumbling Bones in Fall of 2010. The band’s debut EP, Risk Not Your Soul (2011), went on to reach the top ten on the Roots Music Report’s folk radio chart. In Spring of 2013, they joined forces with songwriter and guitarist Kyle Morgan. This new line-up embarked on a six-month tour that culminated in a recording session in their home state of Maine. The band looks forward to making 2014 their best year yet with the addition of fiddle virtuoso Aaron Jonah Lewis, the release of their first full-length album, and tours and festival appearances in the United States, Ireland, Germany, and the UK. The band members continue to teach music in addition to performing.
