Biography

Voted “Best Americana/Folk Band” in the 2016 Oklahoma Gazette Music Awards, trio Kyle Dillingham & Horseshoe Road’s (Oklahoma City, OK) eclectic style rooted in bluegrass and western swing always aims to inspire.  On stage, Horseshoe Road performs a mix of band originals, classic covers, and fiddling favorites that are sure to have audiences on their feet.  Alumni of an American Music Abroad tour in Korea, Taiwan, Burma, and Russia, they have represented America internationally in 37 countries, energizing audiences worldwide.  In 2018, they were selected for a coveted performance at Nashville’s signature Country Music event, CMA Fest. Front man Kyle Dillingham picked up the violin when he was nine—eight years later, he gave two featured performances at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.  As the Musical Ambassador in Residence at the University of Central Oklahoma, Kyle uses his “musical diplomacy” to help develop and strengthen new overseas partnerships for the university.  He has performed for the King of Malaysia, the Princess of Thailand, and Beijing Central Conservatory (broadcast on Chinese national television). Kyle has also championed the premiere of eight new works for solo violin and symphony orchestra, collaborating with orchestras around the world.  Kyle is now managed by legendary impresario, Jim Halsey, who has guided the careers of many great performers including Roy Clark, The Oak Ridge Boys and James Brown.  Guitar and vocalist Peter Markes has played with Kyle, his musical partner and cousin, for over twenty years.  He served as director of orchestras at Edmond North High School and has multiple prestigious teaching accolades, including Oklahoma Teacher of the Year (2014) and the National Federation of High Schools’ Outstanding Music Educator for Region VI (2014).  Peter has been named one of the “50 Directors Who Make a Difference” by School Band and Orchestra Magazine (2010).  Also a passionate music educator, bassist and vocalist Brent Saulsbury has performed in Los Angeles, Amarillo, Texas, and Oklahoma City.  He maintains a private studio and hosts weekly jam sessions that welcome musicians of all abilities.
