Biography
The music world has produced countless number of great artist and great songs that have composed the songbook of every life around the world. But amongst the thousands of musicians, singers and artist that make up this vast music community – only a few are named as progenitors of a new sound, style and way of expression for this universal language. History will list Oscar Williams & the Band of Life as one of those progenitors. This group of professional musicians, singers, artist and speakers effortlessly fuse multiple genres together to form a harmonious mix of style and performance under the unifying them of creating “LIFE MUSIC”. Known for their raw and soul wrenching gospel performances, this group of musicians take each audience they encounter on a musical journey through the roots of Gospel Music to gospel influenced music and artist.
From the inception of the vision back in 1999, a young Oscar sought to put together singers and musicians that held a deep spiritual connection and belief but were also professional craftsman in their fields. A firm believer in education, Oscar holds a BA degree in Music, a MM degree in Music Composition and a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership. Together, Oscar and the Band have achieved national acclaim as Music Ambassadors for the US States department regularly being invited to countries around the world to perform, give master classes and speak to various audiences about Gospel, Jazz, Blues and Hip-Hop music. To date, they have traveled to over 20 countries internationally and all over the United States and Canada.
They hold distinct honors of: performing for Pope John Paul, II at the Vatican Christmas Concert; being named Music Ambassadors since 2011; successful music releases charting on Billboard in the top 40; numerous TV performances both domestically and internationally; continued international tours. Oscar and The Band of Life believe that music is a universal language that unites people no matter what their ethnicity, believe or background may be. Their motto is: Your words create your world so always SPEAK LIFE.
