Kamica King
Biography
Dallas-based, Kamica King is a soul singer-songwriter known for her smooth vocals and acoustic styling. With her eclectic blend of feel-good music, the classically trained vocalist has a knack for connecting to the heart of her audience, blending genres and weaving story and song together to inspire and uplift. A musical storyteller and captivating speaker, Kamica has performed for the Kennedy Center’s Arts Across America virtual series, as well as at the US Open, Carnegie Hall, in South Africa, and at TEDxSMUWomen with her music-infused TEDx talk entitled ‘The Power of Song’.
Kamica was one of only four artists featured by the NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert creator on “Inside the Mind of Bob Boilen” (2019 DIY Musician Conference) for her song ‘Live, Love, Dream’. She is an official artist of the City of Dallas, the Texas State Touring Roster, and an alum of Music to Life’s Activist Artist Accelerator, co-founded by Noel Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul & Mary.
Kamica offers live solo performances and leads workshops that can be adapted for a variety of audiences, ages, and ability levels. Workshops include performance technique & coaching, songwriting, the roles of music in self care, community care and stress management, improvisation/freestyling, arts-based social entrepreneurship, and other programs designed to engage participants in creative expression and community building through musical experiences. Additional performance styles and topics include jazz, neo-soul & hip-hop, spoken word, and empowerment (i.e. women, youth, POC).
A social entrepreneur and activist centering healing, inclusion & community-building through the arts, Kamica is the founder of Musically Me Unlimited, a music-centered self-empowerment program for Black teen girls, and is the artist and board certified music therapist behind musicbased socio-emotional wellness company King Creative Arts Expressions.
