Biography

Florida-based hip-hop, pop, and jazz quintet Drew Tucker & The New Standard has made it their mission to make their uncommon feature instruments, the vibraphone and tuba, more accessible to its fans and the broader population. Front man musician and educator Drew Tucker is leading the movement to reinvent the vibraphone: a dynamic instrument that he melds with soul, funk, jazz, and hip-hop influences to capture audiences nationwide. Drew has revitalized underserved neighborhoods through the creation of arts centers and was the driving force behind the development of Arts Garage in Delray Beach, the Bailey and Ali Cultural Arts Center, and Old School Square. He has toured and lectured alongside seven-time Grammy Award-winner Shaun Martin and is a leading instructor in mallet education, directing percussion for Boca Raton, Dreyfoos School of the Arts and West Broward High Schools. Lauded as “the most innovative tuba player we’ve seen” by the New York Times and the “tuba player that can beatbox to any hip hop song” (Buzzfeed), Bill Muter has played in venues around the globe as a “Tubavisionary.” Bill is the author of the best-selling music technique book “A Practical Approach: Brass Pedagogy Book.” Saxophonist Claude Louis, a Miami Arts graduate in jazz saxophone and Miami Dade College graduate in music education, will release his first EP album in 2018.

Claude has performed at a number of prestigious jazz festivals, including FlU, Jacksonville Jazz, and Ground UP. He is the coordinator at Miami Music Project, an initiative empowering children in the Little Haiti area of Miami through music education. Originally from West Chester, Pennsylvania, drummer Marcus Grant moved to Miami in 2015. After receiving his Bachelor of Music degree from the Temple University Boyer College of Music and Dance, he went on to receive a Master of Music degree at the University of Miami Frost School of Music. After moving to Miami in 2015, he quickly became a frequently-called accompanist and band leader in South Florida playing with notable artist such as Nicole Henry, Jon Secada, Néstor Torres, Arturo Sandoval, Ira Sullivan, Shelly Berg, and Dena DeRose.
