The AMA Virtual Academy is a once in a lifetime opportunity for young musicians from across Africa and the Middle East to be part of a multi-cultural group under the guidance of a team of dynamic AMA alumni artists from the United States. The international cohort of artists are connected by their affiliation with prior U.S. Embassy PAS or AMA-sponsored activities in their nominating countries. The AMA Virtual Academy programming proposes using a variety of virtual platforms and online recording technologies to create trainings, collaborations, production of new materials and even performance and open-mic opportunities. With thanks to the support from the U.S. Department of State, ECA through the American Music Abroad Program, attendance for participants is completely free of charge.

The instructor’s two-hour sessions with small groups of 11-13 participants are the time for instruction or virtual collaboration time between participants. They are tailored sessions and may include break-out groups, reuniting within the same time frames. The AMA Virtual Academy Forum sessions are the time to come together as an entire AMA Virtual Academy group of 24 participants for a common virtual lecture. A total of ten AMA Alumni artists from the United States will lead one AMA Virtual Forum Session, initiating discussion on their genre, the challenges of the music business and entrepreneurship.

Participants in the AMA Virtual Academy become part of the larger global AMA Academy alumni network, connecting with artists from around the world. We hope that you enjoy the activities of the program!
